What’s the difference between
Jane App and Power Diary?
There is no disputing that Jane is a great system, but if you are looking for seamless communication and reduced administration, as well as flexible roster schedules, all at a more affordable price, then you will be better off with Power Diary.

Why should you choose Power Diary?
REASON #1
Auto-Processing of Appointment Reminder Responses
With automated appointment reminders drastically reducing the number of no-shows a practice will experience, it makes sense that both Jane and Power Diary offer this functionality. Whilst they both allow for up to 3 SMS or email reminders per appointment, there is one difference to highlight…
Unlike Jane, Power Diary not only sends reminders, but also processes client responses, either updating as ‘confirmed’ in your diary, or allowing the client to cancel. This means that you greatly reduce time spent on administration as you can see at a glance what is happening with your appointments.
Jane works slightly differently by including a link within the reminders to redirect clients to their portal should they wish to cancel. Although this works well, it is much less convenient than a simple reply, and could become problematic as it relies on clients to be quite proactive.
REASON #2
Seamless Two-Way Communication
Communication is key when running a health practice, so as well as SMS appointment reminders, Power Diary’s advanced two-way SMS messaging functionality provides seamless communication between you and your clients, colleagues, and even other healthcare providers, all from within the app. So whether you need to remind a client to bring something with them, or you are simply running late, Power Diary lets you have a two-way text chat.
In addition to two-way SMS, you will also have the ability to send and receive emails within the app, and the ability to easily send email to provide feedback to referrers or other third parties.
None of these functionalities are currently offered by Jane.
REASON #3
Simple, Affordable Pricing
Although a practice management system can result in a more efficient, more profitable business, affordability is always going to play a big role in deciding which one to choose.
When comparing Power Diary with Jane, the difference in pricing really stands out. Even Jane’s lowest tier Base Plan costs substantially more than Power Diary but this difference escalates as you grow – with 7 calendars costing double, and 30 calendars costing almost triple the price of Power Diary. Plus, with Jane’s Insurance plan you’ll pay over double for just 1 calendar!
At Power Diary, we support your growth by keeping our pricing as low as possible, without compromising the high standards of our system or service.
See our full price comparison below.
REASON #4
Know Your Schedule with Appointment Flags
Have you ever looked at your calendar and wondered which appointments are actually confirmed? With Power Diary’s appointment flagging, you’ll wonder no more. At a quick glance, you will see which appointments are confirmed, pending, canceled, arrived and more. This ties in with reason #1, in that your client’s responses to appointment reminders will automatically update within your schedule to show their current status etc.
Whilst Jane does have appointment flagging options, these are very limited to show only client arrivals or no-shows, providing little insight into future appointments.
REASON #5
Flexible Recurring Rosters to Suit Every Practice
Does your practice operate on a fortnightly or even monthly roster pattern? Perhaps you or a colleague have alternating working patterns, for example working Monday-Wednesday one week, and Wednesday-Friday the following week? If so, Jane could make these types of schedules difficult to input, with only the option for a weekly recurring roster.
Power Diary, allows for daily, weekly and monthly recurring rosters. You can even choose recurrences ranging right up to every 30 weeks. This level of flexibility is ideal for larger, or multi-location practices or where practitioners have varying schedules.
REASON #6
Bulk SMS for Effective Communication and Marketing
Did you know that over 99% of SMS messages are opened within 5 minutes of delivery? So when it comes to notifying clients of changes such as your address or opening hours, bulk SMS is going to be the most effective way to communicate with your clients.
SMS messaging can also be a powerful marketing channel, even more so when sending in bulk. With Power Diary, you can send bulk text messages to promote any upcoming promotions and events.
REASON #7
In-Platform Practice Operations Manual
Keeping your practice policies and procedures up to date can be a challenge. But, at Power Diary, we’re looking out for you! When you start your account with Power Diary, you’re choosing the only practice management system with an in-platform Practice Operations Manual, including more than 100 policies and procedures developed by industry experts. You can edit, delete and archive the existing policies and even add your own.
Plus, it’s included with your Power Diary subscription at no additional charge! Jane doesn’t offer this feature- in fact, no other practice management system does. At Power Diary, we’re constantly thinking about how to make practice management easier to help you spend less time on admin, and more time doing the things you love.
No risk with our Money-Back Guarantee
Yes, you read that right! Simply start your account now and if at anytime over the next 12 months you think Power Diary isn’t right for you just cancel your account and we’ll refund 100% of any subscription fees you’ve paid.
