What’s the difference between
Clinic-Assist and Power Diary?
In a nutshell, if two-way communication and robust integrations are important in your practice, as well as a waitlist function to fill cancellations, then Power Diary will be the best option for you. Particularly if your clients are mostly based outside of the UK – see below to find out why.

Why should you choose Power Diary?
Waitlist to Effortlessly Fill Cancellations
Cancellations are inevitable for health practices, but they shouldn’t cause extra work or allow time to be wasted. They can occur for many reasons; maybe your client’s availability has changed, or they simply no longer require their appointment. To ensure there is no financial loss, cancellations would usually be followed up with manual outreach, by either yourself or your team, which is extremely time-consuming.
Power Diary eliminates any stress, and saves you time, with the Waitlist feature. In just a few clicks, you can send a bulk SMS message to a select group of clients based on criteria such as length of wait, availability and preferred practitioner. All you have to do is watch as your empty slots fill up!
Clinic-Assist Requires a UK Billing Address
Both Clinic-Assist and Power Diary are web-based practice management software, meaning they can be easily accessed and used from anywhere in the world from a computer, tablet or smartphone.
Clinic-Assist is a UK based company, but whilst their software can be used by practices based outside of the UK, they require all clients to have a UK billing address, which could prove to be extremely problematic for the majority of practices operating outside of the UK.
Power Diary is the practice management software used and loved by thousands of healthcare professionals across 23 countries. Although our origins are in Australia, our team is spread around the world to provide support across time zones, and our clients, and their clients, can be based anywhere.
Streamline with Robust Integrations
Power Diary offers various integrations to streamline your business, and we are always looking for new additions to improve your experience even further.
Our most popular integrations are Xero to provide simple and professional invoicing; Stripe for seamless payment processing, allowing you to request prepayment, as well as enabling your clients to pay online through the client portal; and Mailchimp to increase your marketing efforts and improve your client relationships.
Whilst Clinic-Assist also integrates with Xero, the main integration they provide is with Vitalograph, and although this will be useful for some health professions, the vast majority would not benefit.
Accept Online Bookings with the Client Portal
Both Clinic-Assist and Power Diary have a client portal, but with very different functionalities; the most notable difference being the online booking capabilities. Unlike Power Diary, Clinic-Assist does not allow clients to book their own appointments online. Allowing clients to do this not only saves you time on administration, but also enables clients to book at their convenience, which allows for round-the-clock appointments (and payments)!
With Power Diary you can add a ‘book now’ link to your website or facebook page, with clients then able to view their preferred clinician’s availability, as well as book, reschedule or cancel their own appointments, and even pay for them at the time of booking.
Advanced Appointment Reminders
With no-shows being a common problem for health practices, it is not unusual for practice management systems to offer automated appointment reminders. Although this is offered by Clinic-Assist, users are restricted to only one email and/or SMS reminder per appointment, sending 48 hours prior to the booking.
Power Diary, on the other hand, offers up to 3 SMS and email reminders per appointment, with fully adjustable timings for each to be sent, not to mention the ability to process client responses and update the appointment status accordingly, drastically reducing the time spent on administration.
Advanced Communication Functionalities
Communication is key to the smooth running of a health practice. That’s why at Power Diary we offer two-way email and SMS messaging to communicate with your clients, colleagues and other healthcare providers, with conversations being conveniently grouped together.
As well as 1-on-1 communication, you are also able to send bulk SMS messages and email, all from within the app; ideal for sharing promotional offers, newsletters, updates to your practice such as holiday hours, and much more.
Clinic-Assist does not offer two-way or bulk SMS messaging or emails.
Power Diary Caters to Practices of All Sizes
Power Diary’s software is suitable for solo practitioners, as well as multi-location clinics. Clinic-Assist, on the other hand, state that they are ideally suited to a 3+ practitioner/clinician or an expanding clinic, and if you do not fall into this bracket then it is unlikely that Clinic-Assist will be suitable.
If we compare the pricing for 3+ calendars for both systems, you will see that for 3 calendars you will pay the exact same price, but the more calendars you require, the more substantial the saving would be with Power Diary. Clinic-Assist operate on a monthly flat-rate of £20 per user, whereas we aim to support your growth by reducing the cost of each individual calendar as your requirement increases.
No risk with our Money-Back Guarantee
Yes, you read that right! Simply start your account now and if at anytime over the next 12 months you think Power Diary isn’t right for you just cancel your account and we’ll refund 100% of any subscription fees you’ve paid.
